CBS News Calls BS on Obama's Infomercial Promises

Reality Check: The Cost Of Obama's Pledges - CBS News

SO-O, Intrepids! What do you suppose will go the way of the dodo bird once he gets in office? Why yes, that much anticipated promised middle class tax cut, of course!

"Gosh I really wanted to cut your taxes! But instead we're going to have to raise taxes on everyone making over $40,000 just to pay for all these Nifty New Programs I can't wait to enact!"

Officially Recession

GDP falls 0.3% in third quarter on dive in spending - MarketWatch

Ok Kool-Aid drinkers, time to admit the obvious--you were wrong. (That means *you* Darrell.)

In other news, the market continues its Bear Market Rally today. This may last longer than a week before we see a retesting of lows. And other analysts are putting those at about 7800 rather than the 7500 I've been using. Ok, I can accept that. The recent intraday low was 7773.71, even though previous intraday lows in this range from 2003 were as low as 7181.

Early Balloting in Florida Not Good For Obama

PUMAs are winning Florida for John McCain!

From the link--Democrats enjoy a 2:1 registration advantage in Florida, and Real Clear Politics has Obama up 3.5%. Early balloting already totals 35% of the 2004 totals, and of these ballots, Democrat ballots outnumber Republican ballots by 6.4%. Yet despite this substantial numerical advantage based upon party affiliation, McCain is winning by 4%!

Can U say "McCain Democrats"?

Ah knew ya could. :) :)

Turnout is obviously key, Republicans, but even if you have "undecided" Democrat friends that you can give a ride to the polls, it will probably help. A lot of undecided Democrats just can't quite stomach the notion of a hard left/socialist/communist in office, and a "moderate" RINO like McCain gives them an out. It should help them that true conservatives and libertarians don't like McCain at all, but this year he is all we have to throw in the gap against the storm.

And as I told Doom, *I* for one, have to live in this country after the election. It is all fine and dandy to hold to purist standards when one may do so from a perch atop the Swiss Alps, as does Vox. But the bottom line is that one candidate is *much worse* than the other and I am doing myself and my country no favors by throwing it to the wolves because neither candidate is "pristine enough". If we waited for the "perfect candidate" before getting out and voting, we'd be calling each other 'comrade' at our labors in the gulag within a decade.

Ah, before I go on a further tear about how many of the Ilk frustrate and irritate me by their useless attitudes and approaches, I will cut this missive short. I have work to do.

Update: A commenter at Ace's place sums it up well--"You know what's really f****d up about this whole election cycle? The fact that Obama is so bad that we are waxing nostalgic for Hillary Clinton."

Update 2: One more clarification--it is not only that one candidates positions are that much worse by themselves, it is the fact that if polls bear out he would likely be able to implement them fully with no effective opposition from the other party. *That* is what makes it so much worse!

The best that a libertarian can hope for in these times is government gridlock. At least in the '90's, Billy Bob was hampered by a Republican Congress. Giving The One a compliant House and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate would be a huge catastrophe. If McCain has to lock horns with the Dems and with the conservative elements of his own party, that would be a *good good* thing for libertarians. The more acrimony the better!

UPDATE! More evidence here that the same trend is showing in Nevada early polling! With a 55% to 29% Democrat advantage in the early ballots, Obama is only ahead 50% to 48%, which means Independents are breaking heavily toward McCain, together with some Democrats. And this is just in Clark County where most of the Democrats live. The rest of the state is heavily Republican country.

Cicero Would Have Been A Republican

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. Stupid

Hitler won his election. Chavez won his. I've often wondered how the people who voted for the likes of these were so incredibly, totally duped. How they could be so stupid as to not see what they were buying into?

Then I find myself in the midst of this current election season in, of all places, America! And we have a Chavez on the ballot, a man akin to Hitler in his statist yearnings. We have a man whose earnest desire is to turn the Constitution on its head and rewrite it to his own foreign specifications. And the public is lapping him up.

Stupid, asinine puppies!

If you, the American people do not turn this thing around in the next few days, and vote *against* the Change You Cannot Believe In (If You Only Really Understood *What* Change Is Meant), then you will have my utter contempt and scorn for the next four to eight years.

You will deserve the hell that is unleashed upon you.

Naive bleating fools!

U.S. stocks gain ahead of Federal Reserve rate decision - MarketWatch

U.S. stocks gain ahead of Federal Reserve rate decision.

But why?

2:15 ET is the announcement. If you're long, you might want to go short just before then. There is no reason to believe another rate cut will mean a hill of beans at this point. And typically the market rises on the rumor, then falls on the news.

So profit from it. I wish I could.

OTOH this could be the start of the much anticipated bear market rally. If it doesn't decline on the news today, you can expect it to pull back again in about a week or less.

Maybe Not So "Crypto-" Anymore?

Obama Affinity to Marxists Dates Back to College Days - FOXNews.com Elections
Barack Obama laughs off charges of socialism. Joe Biden scoffs at references to Marxism. Both men shrug off accusations of liberalism.

But Obama himself acknowledges that he was drawn to socialists and even Marxists as a college student. He continued to associate with Marxists later in life, even choosing to launch his political career in the living room of a self-described Marxist, William Ayers, in 1995, when Obama was 34.

Obama's affinity for Marxists began when he attended Occidental College in Los Angeles.

'To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully,' the Democratic presidential candidate wrote in his memoir, 'Dreams From My Father.' 'The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.'

Obama's interest in leftist politics continued after he transferred to Columbia University in New York. He lived on Manhattan's Upper East Side, venturing to the East Village for what he called 'the socialist conferences I sometimes attended at Cooper Union.'

By his own admission, he has surrounded himself with socialists and Marxists all his life. Nice to see the mask being ripped off this "empty suit" (to quote the French president).

Renegade Economics: The Bretton Woods 2 Fiction

PIMCO - Renegade Economics: The Bretton Woods 2 Fiction - Executive Summary- by Chris Dialynas and Marshall Auerback
Reading the above-linked paper I came across the following passage:
A perpetuation of existing exchange rate policies, then, based on flawed economic analysis, is creating broadly similar conditions to those that prevailed before the Great Depression. History suggests great economic hardship will follow and that it will be proportionately borne greatest by the debtor nations. But the creditor nations will be afflicted as well as they suffer the loss of their largest export market,

...and was reminded of this passage:
And the kings of the earth, who committed fornication and lived in luxury with (Babylon), will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning; 10they will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,
'Alas, alas, the great city,
Babylon, the mighty city!
For in one hour your judgement has come.'

11 And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo any more, 12cargo of gold, silver, jewels and pearls, fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet, all kinds of scented wood, all articles of ivory, all articles of costly wood, bronze, iron, and marble, 13cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, olive oil, choice flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, slaves—and human lives.
14'The fruit for which your soul longed
has gone from you,
and all your dainties and your splendour
are lost to you,
never to be found again!'
15The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,
16'Alas, alas, the great city,
clothed in fine linen,
in purple and scarlet,
adorned with gold,
with jewels, and with pearls!
17For in one hour all this wealth has been laid waste!'

And all shipmasters and seafarers, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off 18and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning,
'What city was like the great city?'
19And they threw dust on their heads, as they wept and mourned, crying out,
'Alas, alas, the great city,
where all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!
For in one hour she has been laid waste.'

20 Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints and apostles and prophets! For God has given judgement for you against her.

This World Is Not My Home

This World Is Not My Home

1. This world is not my home I'm just passing through
my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

2. They're all expecting me and that's one thing I know
my savior pardoned me and now I onward go
I know He'll take me through though I am weak and poor
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

3. Just up in Glory Land we'll live eternally
the Saints on every hand are shouting victory
their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven's shore
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

Confessional

Over at Hillbuzz, an Obama campaign employee gets cold feet and spills the beans, confesses what they've been up to:
The operation is massive, the goal is to paint a picture that is that of a winner, regardless of the results.
...
Our goal is to continue to make you lose your moral. We worked hard at persuasion and paying off and timing and playing the right political numbers to get key republican endorsements to make it seem even more like it was over and the world was coming to an end for you all.
...
Sarah Palin is a huge threat, and our campaign has feared her like you can’t imagine. If it seems unfair how she has been treated, well its because she has had a team working round the clock to make her look like a fool.
...
Its not over yet, but I think the machine is working. And its a hill to climb.

I will be quitting my post on nov 5th and my vote will be for John Mccain.

Worth a read to lift your spirits! Click the link above for the rest.

And GO VOTE!! It's not over, by far!

Update: I just filled out my early mail-in ballot. Tomorrow it goes in the mail. Those of you who have the opportunity to vote early at a polling place, why not take advantage of it? You never know if something may come up on Election Day that keeps you from the polls. And if you vote on Election Day, why not get up a half-hour early and go vote before work? The lines have been non-existent every time I've voted in the morning. Again it is a safety against stuff coming up later in the day that keeps you from the polls.

Unless you're a Democrat. In which case, you've seen the "other" polls. Your guy is going to glide into office, no problemo! No need to knock yourself out to get to the polls--he'll win either way, right?

Global Economic Crisis: What the November 15 Summit Is Really About

Global Economic Crisis: What the November 15 Summit Is Really About - Yahoo! News

Just an idle passing thought: suppose Herb Peters was wrong, and Bretton-Woods is the "covenant with many" that is about to be renewed/strengthened/confirmed? We'll have to wait and see if some other key components of the "covenant with many" are evident as this thing is hammered out. Most importantly, where would Israel fit into such a new framework, and what agreements would be made with her?

Uses for $700B Bailout Money Keep Changing

FOXNews.com - Uses for $700B Bailout Money Keep Changing - Politics | Republican Party | Democratic Party | Political Spectrum
First, the $700 billion rescue for the economy was about buying devalued mortgage-backed securities from tottering banks to unclog frozen credit markets. Then it was about using $250 billion of it to buy stakes in banks. The idea was that banks would use the money to start making loans again.

But reports surfaced that bankers might instead use the money to buy other banks, pay dividends, give employees a raise and executives a bonus, or just sit on it. Insurance companies now want a piece; maybe automakers, too, even though Congress has approved $25 billion in low-interest loans for them.

Three weeks after becoming law, and with the first dollar of the $700 billion yet to go out, officials are just beginning to talk about helping a few strapped homeowners keep the foreclosure wolf from the door."

Suh-Praiz! Suh-Praiz! Suh-Praiz!

And they wonder why the Vox Popoli (voice of the people, duh! Not just the blogger...) rose up with a shout to oppose this plan. Not that the politicians listened. "'Voice of God', you say? Pah!"

In His Own Words

Barack Obama's wealth redistribution plans:

Click and watch now! These kind of things have a tendency to be "disappeared" out of YouTube. You know, by the crypto-marxists.

Update: PL seems to imply that we should stock up on k-y and SMILE as we're being reamed. I wonder if she will be as pleased to take her own advice should McCain pull an upset win.

Oh and about the panic? Look dearie, Obama is a small part of the picture. The nascent economic depression we're facing is a much larger issue. It just happens that putting a socialist/crypto-marxist in charge of the country in a time of economic depression is akin to fighting a fire with a butane torch. Yeah, you can put the fire out that way--once everything has burned to the ground the fire is guaranteed to go out. Of course to the marxist perspective that is very much the point. Then you get to start over with your "social justice" economic model.

U.S. stock futures fall the most that they're allowed - MarketWatch
'Everyone is staring at their screens in disbelief,' said Tom Hougaard, a strategist at City Index in London.

I am heading out for a couple of days and probably won't follow the rest of today's trading. But I swear I could be making a killing in the options or futures market lately. I was looking for another sharp drop today after yesterday's price action. And the markets didn't disappoint.

But who are these clueless players staring at their screens in disbelief? Didn't they see the writing on the wall?

7500 people. Test it! BAM! BAM! BAM! Three times for good measure. Then (and only then) if it holds, you can start thinking about a trend reversal.

Not Natural Born

There is apparently still a strong case to be made that Barack Hussein Obama was not born in the US and is not a natural born US Citizen (clicka the link for details.) In fact, it is reported that Obama traveled to Pakistan using his Indonesian passport! You know that no one gets a passport from any country unless that country considers him to be a citizen! And Indonesia has no provisions for "dual citizenship".

That Hawaii certificate of birth is nothing more than a record of the fact that his mother presented him as newborn to the state authorities, apparently four days after he was born in Kenya. What did she tell them? Born at home? Born while travelling? Since she was a US citizen they probably wouldn't have raised any questions. So that piece of paper alone does not establish "natural born citizen" status when other evidence exists that he may not even be a US citizen at all.

Voter registration fraud. Campaign contribution fraud. And lingering questions regarding his eligibility. Yet he steamrollers on, while the mainstream press paves the way and deafdumbblind supporters shout hosannas.

I feel so sick.

Nymphaea caerulea -- plants for sale

Every once in a blue moon someone searches on Nymphaea caerulea from when I posted pics of my lovely blue "lotus" plants (actually tropical water lily). Mine died out a couple winters ago after successfully wintering over in the pond for a couple of years.

The place I bought them from no longer appears to carry them, but I seem to have found another source. No webpage address, but send an inquiry to explorer@wholedamarea.com (his name is Chris). He will sell you starter plants in 2-inch peat pots for $4 each plus $6.00 shipping for up to 4 plants.

He says they can overwinter in a bucket until the pond is warm enough. It's a bit early for me to buy mine, as I need to work out where I will store them in the mean time (we're getting moved out of the main house), so don't buy up his whole stock! ;)

Whee!!

U.S. stocks hammered, fueled by worries of global slowdown - MarketWatch
It's liquidation selling. On Monday and Tuesday there was much more discrimination in what was being done. Today is more like a going-out-of-business sale. We've decided to get in cash, so everything must go," said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at Jefferies' Co.
Falling as much as 690 points in the final 15 minutes of trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average recovered slightly, ending at 8,519.21, down 5.7%, or 514.45 points, its 7th-largest point drop on record.

Have I mentioned 7500 as major support? We haven't tested this point yet. I still expect to see it tested at least once or twice before the bottom is established (or *not* established if it fails).

Y'know it just occurred to me, we often see this kind of volatility at the top of a bubble, just before it bursts. My hunch is that this isn't even close to a bottom right now. There's a lot of anxiety, people wanting to push it higher, wanting to prove a bottom, but you don't typically see this kind of churning at bottoms. For what has happened, what is still happening and what is yet to happen in the credit markets and the financial industry, there is plenty of room for additional panicked downside in the equity markets.

Biden Says Obama Election = International Crisis

... and Powell Warns of Obama-Prompted Crisis, Too. A surmise at the link by Ace of what it may be.

Israel.

Hung out to dry.

See, some of you people seem to think I'm some kind of nut, spouting off about the "end of the world" with no rational basis. But like Ron Paul (see post below), I do have good reasons for my views. The world sees the US as Israel's only hope of survival. And if the US (via President Obama) pulls its support, it *will* precipitate the final showdown over the existence of Israel. No matter how you slice it, that will get ugly, because Israel will almost certainly use its nuclear weapons in its own defense.

It just happens that those of my eschatological bent believe that Israel has one more Champion, not of this world, who plans to show up for the event, and so we see the turn of the leaf in all of this, signifying the season.

Excellent News for Palin-McCain 2008

The latest Battleground Poll has Palin-McCain down by ONE point.

Now other polls show them still trailing by larger margins (although there is significant question about the validity of their party balance assumptions), so it's still uphill from here. But there's plenty of reason to not give up hope.

A side note: This poll is conducted by a bipartisan group consisting of Lake Research Partners (liberal) and The Tarrance Group (conservative), so perhaps it is less biased than some of the polls conducted by partisan media outlets.

Also worth noting is that 6% are still reporting as "undecided" in this poll. Folks, this race is still wide open!

Update: More here at Ace's Place.

Ok, let me lay out for you just what I mean by questionable "party balance assumptions". The recent Pew Research Poll shows an incredible 14% lead for Obama nationally. However when you dig into the guts of the poll, you discover that they presumed a weighted party affiliation of 31% Republican, 37% Democrat, and 28% Independent (calculated using total registered voters in the denominator). Also (apparently) 100 people registered to vote are registered with a third party (total registered voters is 100 higher than total of R, D, and I--about 4%??), and 417 people aren't even registered to vote (and therefore cannot vote), yet their answers were apparently included in the survey results.

If you look at this chart, the actual party affiliation of voters on election day 2006, based on exit polls was 39% Democrat, 36% Republican, (and presumably 25% Independent, Other, or no answer)--a 3% voter turnout advantage to Democrats.

So not only is this Pew Research poll including the opinions of people who cannot vote, and people who are unlikely to vote, it is overstating the likely percentage of Democrat voters by about 3%!

Now just try to tell me this poll is not badly skewed!

Contrast this with the internals of the Battleground Poll. Their survey is almost exclusively of likely voters (98%). They do not explicitly state their party affiliation numbers, but it is easy to back out of the results (use generic congressional ballot results, solve 3 equations in 3 unknowns using party affiliation percentages and total percentages). The calculation yields 39% Republican, 43% Democrat, and 17% Independent. That's a four percent voter turnout advantage to Democrats--much more in line with historical trends.

So-o. Which poll do I believe? Why yes, yes! The one that uses the more reasonable and historically accurate methodology!

Oh and to my commenter, you may find upon digging into this that the many state polls you are relying upon are more likely to use the screwy methods of the Pew Research people to get their glowing numbers for The One.

"Why do this," you may ask? Well to dispirit conservatives and suppress conservative voter turnout, of course! If your state or local polls show your guy down by 15% and the opposition already measuring for new curtains in the White House, are you as likely to show up as if you saw it was a tight 2-3% race?

DON'T BUY IT CONSERVATIVES!!! It's a lie. Go vote. I'd say "early and often" except that is a Democrap technique that we don't stoop to.

And Democrats? Please ignore this whole post. I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm sure your guy will coast right into the White House! No need to inconvenience yourself on Election Day. Isn't there something good on TV that day?

More here: The Left's Big Blunder. And here: Jim Geraghty

And one final piece of good news: Leaked Obama internal polls show him within margin of error in Pennsylvania. Wonder why McCain's campaigning there--a state where he is supposedly losing badly according to public polls?

Heh!

UPDATE: New AP poll confirms these results. +10 to Obama in the total sample, +5 to Obama among registered voters, and +1 among likely voters--statistically dead even.

I attribute their lack of proper gun handling and safety protocol to the simple fact that they have not had the good fortune to attend a course at Front Sight, because once you attend a course with us, you forever operate mentally and physically at a level that far exceeds 99% of the gun owning population.

Just when I thought that public displays of improper and unsafe gun handling could not get worse, I found this..."

Ron Paul is Right

Ron Paul in 2012? - How the World Works - Salon.com
Ron Paul appeared on CNN's 'American Morning' on Friday, pushing the same apocalyptic message he served up during the Republican primaries, with one difference. His prediction of doom makes a heck of a lot more sense now than it did then.
'This system that we've had since 1971 is nonviable,' he said, 'and it's coming to an end.'

That's what this whole story is about, the end of a monetary system that we've had since 1971. And something has to give. You just can't create more money out of thin air and propping up everybody.

It's an immoral system. You're asking the poor people to bail out the rich. You're asking the innocent people to bail out the guilty. You're asking people to just totally defy the Constitution because there's no place in the Constitution that says that we can do these things.

And, besides, economically, it's a disaster. This is going to cause a great deal of harm. It's like a drug addict taking a strong fix, and he feels better for a day or two. But believe me, we're going to kill the patient. And the patient here is the dollar system and our entire world economy.

What good it does to be right when no one is listening, I don't know.

Hedge-fund redemptions lay bare the role in oil speculation

OPEC left to its own devices as hedge funds flee - MarketWatch
But there's also been a rush of roving capital out of the market. According to the latest data from Hedge Fund Research, third-quarter hedge-fund redemptions hit a record-high $210 billion, spearheading an exodus of money that has burst one of the biggest commodities bubbles of all time.
It's no coincidence that oil prices plunged in tandem with these record withdrawals, exposing for all to see just how much of the summer's oil-price spike was driven by speculators.

Joe The Plumber

...full clip.

Obama = socialist
"I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

Yes, a regular Robin Hood you are there, Senator Government. Take more money from a hard-working plumber and give it to someone else who didn't work for it. You just keep preaching that plan now, y'hear?

More here (news article).
"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" the blue-collar worker asked.

After Obama responded that it would, Wurzelbacher continued: "I've worked hard . . . I work 10 to 12 hours a day and I'm buying this company and I'm going to continue working that way. I'm getting taxed more and more while fulfilling the American Dream."

"It's not that I want to punish your success," Obama told him. "I want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success, too.

Then, Obama explained his trickle-up theory of economics.

"My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody. I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

Critics said Obama let the cat out of the bag.
(Ed note: MEOW!)

"It's clear that his main goal is redistribution of wealth, not growth," said Andy Roth with the anti-tax group Club for Growth. "He's perfectly happy to destroy wealth as long as he can redistribute it."

Obama has been meticulous, Roth said, to conceal the "socialistic" nature of his tax plans. "But every once in a while, he lets it slip," he said.

V-Man's Feeling A Bit Pressed...

Can't say I blame him nor disagree much. Frankly I think he hits the nail on the head for my unspoken fears.
Velociworld: Having Lost the Weather Gauge...

Update: Ok, knowing the tendency of my readers (or at least a certain subset thereof) to NOT click on links that I provide (much to my frustration--WTF is *with* that?), I have copied and pasted the whole nine yards here. I hope V-Man can forgive me. It's just that important:
I'm not an alarmist person by nature. In fact, I believe my innate entropy is the source of much frustration from many in my circle. I'll even wager my parents cyclone in their twinset sarcophagi over whether I'll finally give a shit, and do something!

Which is my take on politics, as I irritatingly remind you. My jaundiced eye hand always sullenly pulls the lever for the lesser of two evils, while I remark to total strangers It'd be a lot easier if we just shot the other cocksucker.

Except for Reagan, of course. I strode out of the booth declaiming
"I just voted for the fucking MAN!" both times, to the bemused stares of bussed-in vagrants. Small, but gratifying moments.

I say this to insist the following is not Chicken Little, but Foghorn Leghorn. Look: McCain is just going through the motions. Even he knows he's hammered dogshit. Christ, I've had ghosts sitting next to me in the ride at Disney's Haunted Mansion that had more corporeal substance than this guy. Bob, for one.

So get used to AbomiObamanation.

Democracy is a device that insures we shall be governed no better than we deserve, demurred George Bernard Shaw, that crusty old Marxist cunt.

Maybe so, maybe so. But that doesn't mean we deserve to be governed by people elected via endemic voter fraud, in cahoots with criminal tongs supported by taxpayers. Or people cossetted into office by a self-indulgent media whose blatant abrogation of their civic responsibilities would gladden the heart of the most craven Pravda apparatchik. I, personally, think we deserve a little better than that.

Here's the Foghorn Leghorn part: President Obama will have a compliant Congress, and a filibuster-proof Senate. His first 20 days will be busied rewarding his criminal co-conspirators in the voter fraud community organizing racket with federal largesse that would make a Sandfly whore blush. $700 billion bailout? That sum seems about right to "balance things out" for the disenfranchised. You'll hear words like "justice" and "equity" and "fairness" from the Man from Capone. But that's nothing.

The rest of the first 100 days will revolve around this mischievous Nowhere Man instructing Congress to pass omnibus hate crimes legislation. Which they will gladly do. The purpose will be the crushing of dissent. Every fucking thing you say against the regime nouveau will be characterized as racist. And he won't need a compliant press any more, although they'll happily continue to carry the water like the corrupt spavined burros they are.

Make no mistake: your dissent WILL be crushed. One newspaper columnist, one blogger, one querulous student at a time.

The economy, you ask? Barack Obama doesn't give a fuck about the economy. Hell, his naysaying and greedy pocketstuffing from the culprits helped engineer this shitstorm. Anyone remember the economy being an issue at the conventions a few weeks ago? Didn't think so. It wasn't. There's your October surprise, my fellow Blindsideses.

I hate to be a downer, dogs. In fact, tin foil makes me look fat. But my crystal ball (the one with the flying monkeys in it) says 7 years of bad luck. Plus one. The only upside is being one of the 300 Barack targets for the inaugural reeducation program. That's okay. I haven't seen Gitmo since 1976, and I kind of miss it. Plus, I'm just a lone nut. A Ted Kaczynski recluse sitting here not even with pajamas on, but nude from the waist down, whacking the keyboard, admiring my goddam awesome but temporarily flaccid cock. I blame the wine Obama.

P.S. Anyone know where I can get my hands on a functional artillery piece? I might need to rake the hillside leading up to the house, oh, sometime around April 2009. A sweet little 8 pound brass napoleon loaded with screw heads and nails would be cool, but I'll settle for a shizzled bronze of circumspect accuracy and provenance.

What he said.

Holy Moses!

Hijacked Iranian Ship: Dirty Bomb meant for Israel on Yom Kippur?
...the pirates broke open one of the containers and discovered it to be filled with packets of what they said was "a powdery fine sandy soil"....

Within a period of three days, those pirates who had boarded the ship and opened the cargo container with its gritty sand-like contents, all developed strange health complications, to include serious skin burns and loss of hair. And within two weeks, sixteen of the pirates subsequently died, either on the ship or on shore.
...
[Russian sources claim she] was an enormous floating dirty bomb, intended to detonate after exiting the Suez Canal at the eastern end of the Mediterranean and in proximity to the coastal cities of Israel. The entire cargo of radioactive sand, obtained by Iran from China (the latter buys desperately needed oil from the former) and sealed in containers which, when the charges on the ship are set off after the crew took to the boats, will be blasted high into the air where prevailing winds will push the highly dangerous and radioactive cloud ashore.
...
This ship was nothing more nor less than the long-anticipated Iranian attack on Israel.

Foiled by pirates...or God Himself!

As of last week the ship was still held by pirates, but was released October 10 after Iran paid a ransom. One report I read stated the pirates demanded $2Mil from Iran. The US reportedly offered them $7Mil to board and inspect the cargo. Apparently Iran outbid the US...? Did we get a peek at the cargo? No reports say anything further about this.

If this rumor could be verified, then what can be said? This would be one helluva WMD! Deployed by Iran. Prima facie evidence of their intent. Would any reasonable person condemn Israel for doing whatever is necessary to protect their existence? One of the tenents of the Bush Doctrine is the right of the US to confront terrorist threats before they become fully manifest. An attempted massive Iranian WMD attack on Israel--thwarted by unlucky pirates--surely is a stronger casus belli, is it not?

News story from a few weeks ago. News story from late last week regarding its release.

So...it is still on it's way..."home" they say. Headed toward Iran at the last report I was able to find.

October 18: Coming Soon To A World Near You!

Warning signs of an Israeli strike on Iran | David Owen - Times Online

A Clue, A Clue?

Not in the mainstream media. This AP Article contains the following line:
"For Bush, it was the 22nd day in the past 27 he had spoken about the financial crisis, since evidence first arose that the year-old subprime mortgage mess was evolving into a broader and more calamitous meltdown."

"Eevidence first arose" only twenty seven days ago, you say?

How, I mean really seriously *how* could this lowly blogger have seen this coming *months* (verily *years*) ago, and the Mighty Associated Press saw no evidence of this coming only as recently as last month?

Strangling the future

Vox Popoli: Strangling the future
An English columnist notes the probable conclusion to these economic 'rescues':

A quarter of a century ago, in the era of the Labour manifesto that was dubbed (by a member of the Labour shadow cabinet) 'the longest suicide note in history', when one wanted to depict the absurdity of the view of the world advanced by Tony Benn and Michael Foot one simply had to say: 'They want to nationalise the banks!' People fell about laughing.

Today, it is all considerably less funny. We are all socialists now.

And the current front-runner in the presidential race will bring the fascism to the table ifwhen he wins, thanks to the thug-squads of the criminal organization (ACORN) currently working overtime to ensure his victory.

The only comfort I take in this is that I have no children to suffer what is left of this nation.

-----------------------------------------

UPDATE: Possible FBI investigation of a RICO case against ACORN and/or the Obama campaign?

Oh, too sweet, if true! You know why? Because this very morning I was pondering and ruminating while taking my shower. I was thinking, "WTF? They ought to be bringing RICO charges against these criminals!"

Sure enough.

Times like this I wonder if my brain isn't plugged directly into the internet somehow. Or the gestalt mind.

Spinning, Spiralling Downward

And still denial from some quarters.

Germany takes hot seat as Europe falls into the abyss - Telegraph
Chancellor Angela Merkel has been forced to pull her head out of the sand, guaranteeing all German savings, a day after she rebuked Ireland for doing much the same thing. Reality intrudes.

During the past week, we have tipped over the edge, into the middle of the abyss. Systemic collapse is in full train. The Netherlands has just rushed through a second, more sweeping nationalisation of Fortis. Ireland and Greece have had to rescue all their banks. Iceland is facing an Argentine denouement.

The US commercial paper market is closed. It shrank $95bn last week, and has lost $208bn in three weeks. The interbank lending market has seized up. There are almost no bids. It is a ghost market. Healthy companies cannot roll over debt. Some will have to sack staff today to stave off default.

As the unflappable Warren Buffett puts it, the credit freeze is "sucking blood" out of the economy. "In my adult lifetime, I don’t think I’ve ever seen people as fearful," he said.

We are fast approaching the point of no return. The only way out of this calamitous descent is "shock and awe" on a global scale, and even that may not be enough.

More at "read the rest", including an insightful comment to this article.

From commenter Errol Flynn
With that said, I have a question about the medium term future once we have got past 'stabilizing the ship.' Do we allow continued moves to currency unification, or do we say enough is enough? Do we accept that ever more centralization is systemically destabilizing (and may possibly take us directly to fascism) and that what we must oppose is any more 'le grande' ideas of further Euro expansion and (waiting quietly in the wings) the arrival of the Amero?

Increasing numbers of us are waking up to see the subtly fascist agenda of the hidden "Elite," who want to enslave us all in a cashless society, predicated on massive databases, ID Cards, implanted microchips in the arm, mobile & e-mail monitoring, 24/7 camera surveillance, and a host of other totalitarian tools ... all dressed up by our media to sound like they are necessary to make us safe from "terrorists."

If 9-11 was indeed perpetrated by a conspiracy of "Elite" Americans supported by two of their closest political allies from overseas, then should not the "War on Terrorism" now be correctly viewed as a necessary prologue for this non-accidental, financial emergency? A kind of "setting the dinner table?"

Why are we (apparently) tolerating the gradual imposition of financial centralization based around the European Union and the North American Union? Who dreamt up these concepts other than ex-Communists, lapsed Trotskiists (now called NeoCons), and other political extremists hell bent on telling everyone else (i.e., the sheople) what to do.

Mussolini & Hitler married corporate power with state socialism and state-dominated finance ... that was all made to appear nice & fluffy by a totally propagandised media. Are not the components for phasing in a similar totalitarian nightmare already in place? Certainly in Britain and the USA they are. The EU is already jailing people for what they think. Indeed, they are jailing people who committed their so-called "thought crimes" in countries outside the EU but just happen to be passing through one of the EU's international airports! [Ref: Fredrick Toben]. Are we not insane to tolerate such political extremism? Are we not inviting enslavement when we fail to ask who exactly is pushing for the entrenchment of such extreme intolerance towards any kind of dissent?

Isn't our misplaced tolerance of mind-control (being constantly told what & how to think) one of the reasons why we are having to suffer the third massive financial (banking) collapse in just 75 years?

I am trying to point out that in addition to the financial rupture, there are two or three hidden agendas being played out (simultaneously) that have each been designed to ensnare us. Too few are paying attention to the details, and the quiet strategizing of the conspirators and puppeteers. These hidden agendas are only meant to serve a small (often interbred) "Elite" who seem to think they are more evolved than the rest of us, and thus, are entitled to act like God.

Do we roll over, or do we find the balls to oppose them at long last? Isn't that what Parliaments were designed to help us do?

Financially, we can't just "bail-out" what existed before. We have to replace it with something that is more transparent, accountable, and modest ... that serves only the common good; and certainly not the interests of the discredited Wall St, Pentagon, State Department axis. If we fail to rise to the challenge that now confronts us, we may unwittingly invite a "Dr. Strangelove" into the Oval Office, with a suitably tethered poodle in Downing St.

From commenter Toby, who is right--he won't be much affected because he's not plugged into the crashing system
In response to some comments about Republicans. My conservative Republican friends and I here in the mountains of Pennsylvania all drive old trucks paid for with cash, although we can hardly afford to put gas in them anymore. No big deal, they are just a luxury. We do see the fat cat Democrats when we get down to the city driving around in their SUVs, they sure would come in handy here on the farm, but why they need them in town I don't know. I do know that the whole financial collapse thing won't have much affect here however. I can still expand my garden and hunt to provide for my family. I'll put my boys outback to chop firewood for the woodstove. The Arabs can keep there oil for all I care. Maybe if there is a collapse Obama will understand why we cling to our guns (for our livelyhood) and our Bibles (to thank God for giving us all we need to survive), this enables us to prosper without the Democrats putting their nose in our business. Obama can keep his wacko ideas in the city or better yet in whatever country he came from. We don't need him or any other foreigner, or his money. I say to him just leave us alone.

Global Tailspin

U.S. stocks tumble as global crisis persists - MarketWatch
The Associated Press: Dow plunges 800 points amid global sell-off
"It's hard to exaggerate how bad things are. Things are still profoundly dislocated," T.J. Marta, fixed-income analyst at RBC Capital Markets, told The Associated Press.

"Good Job Brownie!"

Only this time it is the architects of the 1995 CRA and the Fannie/Freddie managers (Democrat cronies) who are watching their "city" drown.

So much for the ballyhooed "bailout's" salutary effects on the markets.

The crew has already slipped overboard--abandoned the ship...

TO THE LIFEBOATS!!! THEY'VE ABANDONED US!

Update: Oh, and to make your Monday perfect, here's news that Obama plans to win using Massive Voter Fraud and legal wrangling that will make the 2000 Florida debacle look like kindergarten play.

Flagstaff

Ok, I have finally gotten to some of my photos from our recent short vacation in Flagstaff, Arizona. Our primary mission was hiking, hopefully in the fall colors, but that was not to be. We were about two weeks early for the full bloom of the aspens. Nevertheless it was a pleasant few days of hiking in the high country.

Monday afternoon we arrived, and after lunch at the Beaver Street Brewery and a quick stop at Babbitt's for a topographic hiking map, we headed to Campbell Mesa for a quick hike before sunset.

Nothing spectacular on this hike, just trees and meadows above a subdivision.

The next morning we had breakfast at the Crown Railroad Cafe (not recommended--they served me a rotten porkchop with my breakfast), we headed for the Fat Man Loop in the Elden Lookout area.

The hike is named for a spot on the trail known as the Fat Man Crack. Daisycat had no trouble negotiating this spot.

I had a bit of difficulty however.

The trail climbed to give some nice overlooks of the Flagstaff area, and along the way we took a bunch of photos of grasses and flowers and trees, that I will group together in the next post.

If I were Catholic, this might have excited me. About 2/3 through the trail loop there is a giant boulder with a natural grotto wherein can be seen an image of the virgin Mary. If you blow up the image you can see facial features in that whitish area near the top, and the remainder of the lichens give the impression of a blue and green dress.

That afternoon we hiked to Bismarck Lake, through woods and open meadows to a little pond (hey, this is Arizona, even ponds are called lakes, ok?)

Thursday was the best hike! We started just below the Arizona Snow Bowl on the Kachina Trail and hiked about halfway before stopping for lunch. This hike is at a substantially higher elevation than most of the hikes of the previous two days, and it shows in the different vegetation. This area has deep pine forest areas punctuated by meadows and aspen groves. Right about now, the aspens should be turning color and this would be an even more fantastic dayhike.

Finally Friday morning we hiked to the old Veit homestead site. There were three springs at the site. The first was Indian Spring, so named for the rock art near the entrance to the shallow cave holding the spring.

This first image is from about fifteen feet inside the cave entrance. The water is caught in this pool and then piped out.

The second spring was enclosed in the cliff face itself.

And the third spring was a few yards downhill from the cliff in a stone building.

All three springs were supposed to feed a small pond at the site, but the pond was dry.

The cabin was more of a hut with a low door.

There was another cabin at the site at one time (Jenks cabin), but there was little trace of it today.

And then we went home.

More pics to come (maybe tomorrow) of grasses and leaves and trees (oh my!)
